Dr. Heather Weissman is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, LASIK, PRK, advanced corneal transplantation and corneal collagen crosslinking. She has been recognized as a Top Doctor by both Atlanta Magazine and Castle Connolly.
Dr. Weissman completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia with a major in Biology. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies. During her undergraduate studies, she went on outreach missions to Nicaragua and Costa Rica providing medical care to the underserved. She subsequently pursued a medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Weissman completed her internship and residency training in Ophthalmology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. During residency, she participated in research in the field of cornea and refractive surgery, which led her to pursue a prestigious fellowship in Cornea, Anterior Segment and Refractive Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Weissman has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and presented her research at local and national scientific meetings. She serves on the Medical Advisory Committee for the Georgia Eye Bank and the Executive Board of the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Weissman is a native Atlantan and returned home to join Atlanta Ophthalmology Associates in 2016. Apart from Ophthalmology, she enjoys running, cycling and spending time with her husband and three children.
