David A. Palay, MD is a Board Certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery. He has been in practice in Atlanta since 1992.
He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University: he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He then attended medical school and completed his residency at Emory University. He did a fellowship in corneal surgery at the University of Iowa, and he was a full-time faculty member at The Emory Eye Center of Emory University from 1992 to 1999. In 1999, Dr. Palay entered private practice with Atlanta Ophthalmology Associates, PC.
His extensive work and experience in the field of corneal disease has made him a nationally recognized corneal specialist. He has written two major textbooks of ophthalmology, Cornea Color Atlas and Ophthalmology For the Primary Care Physician. Corneal Color Atlas is regarded as the gold standard for corneal disease. He also contributed to the textbook of corneal diseases, Cornea. He has published numerous articles and presented his research work at several national ophthalmology meetings. For his dedication to the field, he has been featured as one of the best ophthalmologists in Atlanta Magazine and in Best Doctors In America many times, most recently in 2021.
